Obituary for Allen W. Chase

Allen W. Chase, 47, of Cherry Creek, N.Y. went home to be with Jesus on Wednesday May 17, 2023 as a result of a tragic logging accident. Allen was born November 24, 1975 in Dunkirk, the oldest son of Morris and Barbara Ferguson Chase. He was raised in Cheery Creek, NY and graduated from Cassadaga Valley Central School, Class of 1994. Following high school, Allen served active duty in the United States Marine Corps from 1994-2000. He enlisted bravely during the Bosnian war and continued to serve during the Kosovo conflict. Allen returned to his roots in the town of Charlotte where he built a house on land that has been in his family for generations with his own hands. With his soulmate “Mandie” they built a family and a home. A logger by trade, his logging career was an endeavor that began while he was still a teenager. With a homemade “whoopie” and a contract bought from NY state he cut and skidded pine trees. After returning from his time overseas Allen began to build his dream business with his blood, sweat and tears poured into it “Al” as most of his buddies will call him made his dream a reality. Chase Logging serviced numerous mills, provided poles and fire wood to numerous people across NY and PA. He grew by good quality work that people could rely on. Allen served as the current Supervisor of the Town of Charlotte. His tenure as town Supervisor was something he took great pride in. His monthly meetings were a commitment he never missed.  Allen is survived by: his wife, Amanda “Mandie” Grey Chase, of Cherry Creek; and his six children: Aaron W. Chase, of Cherry Creek, Garett R. Johnson, of Camden, TN, Kayla R. Chase-Thompson (Garland), of Morehead City, NC, Gilianna M. Johnson, Gabriel C. Chase, and Gemma K. Chase, all of Cherry Creek; his grandson, Garland Thompson, Jr. Also his parents, Morris and Barbara Chase; his siblings: Loretta Peters, of Tucson, AZ, Waylon (Riza) Chase, of Gerry, Nelson Chase and Lynette Chase, both of Jamestown; his father-in-law, Richard Grey and mother-in-law, Lorrie Grey, of Castalian Springs, TN; his brother-in-law, Carl (Michelle) Grey, of Castalian Springs, TN; nieces and nephews: Richard Thomas, Ruby Bell, Reiden, Bria and Eliana.

He is predeceased by his youngest brother, Tyler Chase, who passed away in May of 2014; also his Uncle Bob, Uncle Alan and Uncle Rick.

Visitation will be Wednesday at the LARSON-TIMKO Funeral Home, 20 Central Ave. Fredonia, from 6-8 pm. A memorial service will be held at the Fredonia First United Methodist Church, 25 Church St., Fredonia Thursday at 11 am. Full Military Honors, accorded by the Dunkirk Joint Veterans Council, will be held at church. Allen’s memorial service will be lived streamed on Allen’s site on the Larson-Timko Funeral Home web site, larsontimkofuneralhome.com, commencing at 11am on Thursday. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Chase College Fund to be established for Gabriel and Gemma.
