Obituary for Ann L. Burgstrom (Morrison)

Ann L. (Morrison) Burgstrom, 88, of Fredonia, N.Y., passed away on Friday, Aug.
20, 2021 at home. Loving mother of Susan (Allan) Zurawski, Richard (Brenda) Burgstrom Jr., Roberta (Stephen) Maxwell, Cheryl (Peter) Skurzewski, Karen (John) Boner, and John (Sheri) Burgstrom; cherished grandmother of 18 grandchildren and 21 great grandchildren; sister of Kathleen (late Joseph) Jasinski, Thomas (Carol) Morrison and Ted (Rochelle) Morrison; also survived by numerous nieces and nephews.
Ann was predeceased by her twin sister, Joan Weakly.

Ann’s strong faith was seen in her unwavering dedication to her family and church. Ann found joy in attending sporting events, music concerts, and religious sacraments of her children, grandchildren, and great grandchildren. Ann lived out her faith by welcoming everyone she encountered with open arms and a compassionate heart. Each Christmas, Ann made sure everyone who gathered under her humble roof had a filled Christmas stocking with their name on it. Ann was very active in her church, St. Joseph Parish of Fredonia, N.Y. She was a lector, taught religious instruction, volunteered at Bingo, and was a member of both the Altar and Rosary Society and Parish Council.

Ann began quilting in 1976. She hand quilted a blanket as a gift for each of her children and grandchildren on the occasion of their marriages. She was also a puzzle enthusiast, known to always have a puzzle in progress on her living room puzzle table. She was also known for her homemade fudge, mincemeat cookies, and the incomparable “green stuff.”

Visitation will be Monday from 6-8 pm., at the LARSON-TIMKO Funeral Home, 20 Central Ave., Fredonia, where prayers will be offered Tuesday at 9:15 a.m., followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at St. Joseph Church, 145 E. Main Street, Fredonia at 10 am.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Ann’s memory to St. Joseph Church or Northern Chautauqua Catholic School.
