Charles J. Schibetta
With family member beside him, Charles J. Schibetta passed peacefully at home on January 13, 2022. He was 86.

The rock who taught us what family truly means, he has joined his wife Sylvia, 2 sons, James and Richard, his siblings Robert and Jane and countless others before him in eternal peace.

The father of eight children and caregiver to his two nephews for most of their lives, he spent his final years with his children and friends beside him. A lifetime resident of Fredonia, he was member of St. Anthony’s RC Church and a life member of the Fredonia Beaver Club. He retired from DuPont Chemical after a distinguished career as a Process Engineer. That career took him and Sylvia to live in North Carolina and Nevada before returning home to Fredonia to live out their remaining years. He enjoyed playing golf, listening to his children play music and storytelling with his friends.

Charles is survived by his children, William (Debra) and family of Dayton, TX, Charles (Robin) and family of Tecumseh, MI, Michael of Phoenix, AZ, Thomas of Fredonia, NY, John (Alicia) and family of Fredonia, NY, daughter, Gina (John) Kaczmarek of Ballston Spa, NY. Also survived by his two nephews Michael (Betty) Ray of Orchard Park, NY and John Ray of Phoenix, AZ, his daughters-in-law, Pamela (James) and family of Mentor, OH, Lynne and Family also of Mentor, OH and Brenda (Richard) and family of Richmond, VA. He has 13 grandchildren and 3 Great grandchildren.

Visitation will be Friday March 4, 2022 from 6-8 pm at the LARSON-TIMKO Funeral Home, 20 Central Ave., Fredonia. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Saturday March 5, 2022, at St. Anthony Church, (Corner of Cushing & Orchard Streets, Fredonia) at 10 am. Following the funeral Mass, a celebration of Mr. Schibetta’s life will be held at the Clarion Hotel, 30 E. Lake Shore Drive, Dunkirk from 12 noon- 6pm, in conjunction of what would have been his and Sylvia’s 67 wedding anniversary. Interment will be in St. Joseph Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions in Mr. Schibetta’s memory may be made to the Brocton Vol. Fire Dept., 80 Lake Ave., Brocton, NY 14716.
