Obituary for Cynthia S. "Cindy" Detolla (Gollnitz)

Cynthia S. (Gollnitz) Detolla, 55, of Cassadaga, NY, left behind broken hearts when she passed away Saturday February 18, 2023 at Buffalo General Hospital, due to a recent diagnosis of cancer. Cindy died with the love of her life, Ed Armstrong, by her side. She was born May 25, 1967, daughter of Minnie and the late Conrad Gollnitz. Cindy was a 1985 graduate of Fredonia High School. From there she began her 39 year career at Tops Market that she enjoyed immensely. Cindy was hired as a cashier and worked her way up to office manager until her unexpected diagnosis. Cindy dearly loved her dogs and yearly vacations to Myrtle Beach. She took pride in making her house a home and working in her flower gardens. Cindy loved spending her days off browsing thrift shops. She was a longtime fan of the Buffalo Bills and the Buffalo Sabres.

Cindy is survived by: the love of her life, Edward Armstrong; her mother, Minnie Gollnitz of Fredonia; brothers: David (Cindy) Gollnitz of Jamestown, Alan (Kim) Gollnitz, Larry Gollnitz Sr., Sean Gollnitz Sr., all of Fredonia; sister, Laurie (Roger) Eimers of Florida; step-children: Shayla Hensel, Alex Armstrong, and Levi Armstrong; nineteen nieces and nephews and ten great-nieces and great-nephews.

She is preceded in death by: her father, Conrad Gollnitz, who died on November 9, 2003 and her nephew, Sgt. Jonathan A. Gollnitz, who died September 26, 2012 while serving on active with in the U.S. Army in Afghanistan.

Calling hours are Thursday 2-4pm and 6-8pm and Friday 10am-12pm with services at 12pm at the LARSON-TIMKO Funeral Home, 20 Central Avenue, Fredonia where a funeral service will follow at 12 pm. Interment will be in the Webster Cemetery.
