Obituary for Helen Merrill (Rogalski)
Helen (Rogalski) Merrill, 102, formerly of Fredonia, N.Y., died peacefully on Friday April 29, 2022 at the Heritage Village Nursing Home in Gerry, NY. Helen was born December 30, 1919 in Arkwright to the late Lawrence and Eva Rogalski. Helen was a longtime and devoted parishioner of St. Joseph R.C. Church. She regularly facilitated and organized church services at One Temple Square for 20 years while she was a resident. Helen worked as a packer at the Fredonia Seed Company.
Survivors include two daughters: Dorothy Potter of Fredonia and Alice (Denny) Williams of Sarasota, FL; son, Jenness, (Karen) Merrill of Fredonia; seven grandchildren, nine great-grandchildren and four great great-grandsons; sister-in-law, Auleen Robinson of Texas and numerous nieces and nephews.
In addition to her parents, Helen is preceded in death by: her husband, Jenness M. Merrill, whom she married Nov. 26, 1938. Jenness passed away on August 20, 1970; son-in-law, Ward Potter, who passed away March 25, 2011; two grandsons: Ward Potter Jr., who was born June 23, 1961 and passed away January 24, 1969 and Kirk Potter, who was born November 11, 1962 and passed away February 23, 1963; also her siblings: John (late Mary) Rogalski, Walt (Fran) Rogalski, Bill (late Jenny) Rogalski and Henry (Late Cara) Rogalski.
Visitation will be held Monday 4-7pm at the LARSON-TIMKO Funeral Home, 20 Central Avenue, Fredonia. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at St. Joseph Church, 143 E. Main St., Fredonia, Tuesday at 10am. Helen’s funeral Mass will be live streamed on her site on the Larson-Timko Funeral Home web site (larsontimkofuneralhome.com) commencing at 9:45 am on Tuesday with the Mass starting at 10 am. Interment will be in Forest Hill Cemetery. Memorial contributions in Mrs. Merrill’s memory may be made to St. Joseph Church. On-line condolences may be made at larsontimkofuneralhome.com.
