Obituary for Janet A. Saunders (Thompson)
It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of our loving wife and mother, sister and grandmother, Janet Saunders, on Sunday February 6, 2022.
Janet was born in Fredonia in 1936 to the late Leon and Nettie (Greene) Thompson. She was a graduate of Fredonia High School. Janet was a homemaker who always had a smile and a meal for whoever stopped by. She was also a talented artist who shared her beautiful oil paintings with her family.
Janet is survived by: her husband of 68 years, Gorman Saunders; four children: Debora (Dave) Tobio, Sharon Brown and Karen George, all of Fredonia, and Steven (Beverly) Saunders of Port Charlotte, Florida; also survived by her brother, Leon Thompson of Forestville, eight grandchildren and several great-grandchildren.
Besides her parents, Janet was preceded in death by: her son-in-law, Jeffrey George; sisters-on-law: Sue Thompson and Sue (Patricia) Thompson; grandson Derek George and grandson Carl Saunders.
Visitation will be held on Saturday from 2-4pm at the LARSON-TIMKO Funeral Home, 20 Central Avenue, Fredonia, where a memorial service will follow at 4 pm. Memorial contributions in Janet’s memory may be made to Chautauqua Hospice and Palliative Care, 20 Fairmount Ave., Lakewood, NY 14750.
