Obituary for Kathleen Anne "Kathy" Kachelmeyer (Phillips)

Kathleen “Kathy” Anne Kachelmeyer (nee Phillips), born June 5, 1949, passed away on November 16, 2022, in her home surrounded by family. Daughter of the late Lillian (Weiss) and Charles (Phillips) of Buffalo, NY; wife to her beloved husband of 40 years, the late Michael Kachelmeyer; mother of 6 children: Mark Kachelmeyer, Timothy (Brandy) Kachelmeyer, the late Stephen (Kim) Kachelmeyer, Sarah (nee Kachelmeyer) (Bradley) Meyers, Rebecca Kachelmeyer, and Joel Schaeffer (nee Kachelmeyer), all of Fredonia; grandmother of: Devon Kachelmeyer, Stephen Kachelmeyer II, Alexis Kachelmeyer, Zane Kachelemeyer, Maddison Kachelmeyer, Summer Kachelmeyer, Seth Kachelmeyer, Lilith Amendolia, Simon Davis, Micah Davis, Benton Kachelmeyer, Theodora Gibson, and Penelope Gibson; great-grandmother of 3 great-grandchildren; sister of: Donald (Louanne) Phillips, Charles (Kathy) Phillips, Sharon Peters, all originally from the Buffalo area; also survived by nieces and nephews.
A longtime resident of the South Dayton, NY area, Kathy was a friend and confidante to anyone and everyone. She loved to feed people, frequently too much. She loved animals and, sensing her gentle spirit, they loved her back. Kathy found joy in the simple pleasures of life: her garden, a cup of coffee (too late at night), talking to people, and puttering around the house. She was well known for her sense of style and signature beehive hairstyle.
Kathy was also a savvy businesswoman and was joint owner and proprietor of Kathy's Kit & Kaboodle, a gift and antique shop in Ellington, NY from 1997-2003 where she was able to engage with the public and express her considerable artistic talents.
Her childlike sense of wonder and openhanded compassion allowed her to nurture everyone around her. Her mischievous laugh and the knowing sparkle in her eyes stayed with her through to the end of her life.
Above all she loved God, her husband, her family, and her dog, all of whom she lived a life of dedication to. Her joyful spirit will be greatly missed.
A Celebration of Life on Saturday, February 11, 2023 at 11:30am at the Fredonia Beaver Club, 64 Prospect St., Fredonia, NY.
