Obituary for Kathleen Fadale (Battaglia)

Kathleen Fadale (Battaglia), 89, of Fredonia, died peacefully on Saturday April 9, 2022 at Brooks Memorial Hospital with her loving daughter & son-in-law at her side. Kathleen was born January 26, 1933 in Dunkirk NY to Anthony and Sarah (Joy) Battaglia.

Kathleen graduated from Fredonia High School in 1951 & was a member of the Tau Delta Epsilon sorority & Tri Hi-Y club. After graduation, she completed stenography school and worked as secretary at the Sullivan and Sullivan Law Firm in Dunkirk prior to staying home and raising her daughter. In 1954, she married her husband of 48 years, Anthony, who passed away in 2003.

Kathleen was a thoughtful & generous person who loved to play the piano & organ, do needlepoint & flower arrangements, work outdoors & listen to polka music that brought back memories of her father. She also had fond memories of working on the farm with her father & brother & her cousin Russell. In later years, she enjoyed traveling with her husband & especially spending their winters in Florida.

In May of 1999, in honor of Mother's Day, Kathleen was featured in an article, along with her daughter, entitled “Honoring our Mothers, Prominent area women credit mothers for their unspoken lifetime influence”, which her daughter credited her for the sacrifices that she made for her & her influence of independence that has been with her daughter throughout her life. They considered themselves a “team” whereby her daughter has affectionately called her “Katrina” for many years. She will be remembered for her gentle spirit & the beautiful smile that she always had for everyone.

Kathleen is survived by her daughter, Debra Fadale Felton (David) of Dunkirk; her “granddaughter” Mandee; her sister, JoAnn (late Ed) Griffith of Fredonia; her brother, Anthony (Sally) Battaglia, of Fredonia, and several nieces and nephews.

Visitation hours will be held on Monday, April 18th from 4:00 – 7:00 pm at the LARSON-TIMKO Funeral Home, 20 Central Ave., Fredonia. A Blessing will held at the LARSON-TIMKO Funeral Home on Tuesday, April 19th @ 9:15 am followed by a Mass of Christian Burial that will be celebrated at St. Anthony Church, (Corner of Cushing & Orchard Streets), Fredonia at 10:00am.
