Obituary for Marie I. Wilcoxon (Ford Hanes)

Marie Ford Hanes Wilcoxon, entered into Heavenly Peace on Monday April 3, 2023. Born March 29, 1932 to Edna Schoonmaker Ford and George Ford, of Johnson, NY. Marie was the beloved mother of daughter, Georgene Hanes Steffan, of Fredonia, NY; son, David Wilcoxon, of Fort Worth. TX; son, Eric (Gina) Wilcoxon, of Port Orange, FL and stepdaughter, Mary Kathleen (Robert) Rider of Ocala, FL. She was “Super Grams” to granddaughter, Kristine (William) Matteson, of Fredonia; granddaughter, Erin Wilcoxon, of Palmetto, Fl; grandson, Michael (Victoria) Wilcoxon, of E. Patchogue, NY; grandson, Evan Wilcoxon, of Daytona Beach, FL; grandson, Joseph Wilcoxon, of Fort Worth, TX; grandson, James Wilcoxon, of Fort Worth, TX; grandson, Justin Cooke, of New Braunfels, TX; granddaughter, Ashley Cooke, of Wimberly,TX, along with 4 great-grandchildren and 3 great-great-grandchildren. She is predeceased by: mother, Edna Ford and father, George Ford; husband,Charles Hanes and husband, David Wilcoxon.

Marie grew up on her family farm in Johnson, NY where she enjoyed her many pets, including her beloved horse, “Rusty”. She was employed as a garment fabricator at Playtogs in Middletown, NY. But she most enjoyed being a homemaker and mother to her children. She loved decorating her home for each holiday, doing liquid embroidery, watching “The Young and the Restless” and keeping up with her growing family. She taught Sunday school over the years and was later a licensed childcare provider in Holly Hill, FL. Once the last of her grandchildren entered kindergarten, Marie relocated to Fredonia to be near her daughter and granddaughter. She dearly loved all her family, her friends, her church and had an abiding faith in her Savior, Jesus Christ.

A Celebration of Life service will be held at the Fredonia First United Methodist Church, 25 Church Street, Fredonia, NY on Thursday June 8, 2023 at 11am. Pastor Annette Puleff will officiate. Marie's service will be lived streamed on her site on the Larson-Timko Funeral Home web site, larsontimkofuneralhome.com, beginning at 11 am on Thursday June 8, 2023.  Donations in memory of Marie can be made to the Chautauqua County Humane Society, 2825 Strunk Road, Jamestown, NY 14701, (chqhumane.org).
