Obituary for Mary Ellen Epolito (Pacos)

Mary Ellen (Pacos) Epolito, 73 of Fredonia, NY, passed away peacefully on Monday, September 13, 2021. She was born August 12,1948 in Dunkirk, the daughter to the late Paul and Doris (Franskowiak) Pacos.

Mary attended Cardinal Midzenty High School and graduated from Fredonia High School in 1967. She worked in many places including Kobackers, Fredonia Central School Cafeteria, retiring as cafeteria manager in 2016, and the American Legion Post 59 where she waitressed and bartended both before and after retirement.

Survivors include her husband of 50 years, Peter and their three children; Paula, Danielle, and Gary Epolito; 2 grandchildren, Camille Epolito and Ryan Mendez. In addition, Mare is survived by her brother, Andrew (Linda) Pacos, her sister, Paulette (James) Wright, sister-in-law, Jane Lilly and Mother-in-law, Rose Epolito. Mary is also survived by her loyal companion and protector Giovanni as well as many aunts, nieces, nephews and cousins.

Besides her parents, she was preceded in death by her sister-in-law, Linda Epolito, her brother-in-law, Gary J Epolito, Godson Brian Pacos and nephew James Wright Jr.

Mary Ellen was a dedicated mother first and foremost. She treasured her children and enjoyed every moment with them. She especially loved her role as a grandmother. She had a genuine personality and concern for all she met.

Mare loved music; you could often find her on the dance floor. She also loved to travel with her husband, always looking forward to their annual leaf peeping trips to New Hampshire every October.

Memberships include American Legion Post 59 Auxiliary, Holy Trinity Church, Fredonia Beaver Club, and the Sheridan VFW.

A funeral mass will be celebrated at 10:00 am on Friday, September 17,2021 at Holy Trinity church in Dunkirk, NY, with the Reverend Dan Walsh officiating. Memorial contributions in Mary’s memory may be made to the charity of your choice. Relatives and friends are invited to the funeral mass and may call at the Larson-Timko Funeral Home, Central Avenue, Fredonia, NY on Thursday, September 16, 4-7:00 pm.
