Obituary for Mildred A. "Millie" DeJoe (Ormsby)

Mildred “Millie” A. DeJoe, 79, of Fredonia, NY, was called home to rest on Saturday, April 15, 2023 after a courageous battle with leukemia. Millie was born on June 1, 1943 to Keith B. Ormsby and Regina Ormsby in Dunkirk, NY and was a graduate of Fredonia High School, class of 1961. Millie retired from the Town of Pomfret after 20 years serving as a court clerk. On April 4, 1964, Millie married her beloved husband, James “Jim” DeJoe, whom she met when she was just a young teen at a dance at The Fredonia Grange. The two just celebrated their 59th wedding anniversary. Together, they had two daughters, Denise and Tricia, both of Fredonia.  Millie is preceded in death by her parents, Keith B. Ormsby and Regina Ormsby and an infant brother.

She is survived by her husband, Jim; daughters: Denise (Jeffrey) Scott and Tricia (Ron Romance) DeJoe; siblings: Wayne (Debra) Ormsby, Frances Clark and Virginia “Jinny” Kopp; two granddaughters: Theresa (Jeffrey) Campbell and Mollie (Aaron) Ballagh and two grandsons: David Nichols and Justin (Breanna) Nichols. She is also survived by her four great-grandchildren: Mason, Evelyn, Nina and Noelle; her cherished dog and companion, Rosie, and many cousins, nieces, nephews and extended family members.

She will be fondly remembered as a wonderful wife, mother, friend and an exceptional “Gramie”. A genuinely beautiful woman with the biggest heart. She was always ready to welcome a visitor with a “toasted cheese” and a warm hug. Millie took great pride in the life she had built together with her husband. She loved to cook and bake. Her pies were second to none. She lived life radiantly with an outpouring of constant love and support to all those around her. She will be forever and deeply missed by her family and friends.

There will be a small, intimate gathering for immediate family. A celebration of life to remember and honor her will be planned and announced in the following months. On-line condolences may be made at larsontimkofuneralhome.com. Arrangements by David J. Dengler, LARSON-TIMKO Funeral Home.
